A Few Poems I've Written

                                                LEGACY OF A SPIRIT

There are many spirits that one can posses within the vessel God gives us at birth.

The spirit of Love, Understanding, Teaching, Calmness, Learning, and friendship.

Rarely a person comes along possessing all of these spirits.

In which they use to give a greater understanding of God in our lives.

Even if they are not with us physically, their spirit lives in everyone they have touched in the physical world.

Now that they are part of spiritual world we honor them by remembering that we are their Legacy.

They touched many people in different ways but they loved everyone the same.

Thank God everyday that He gave us the opportunity to known them and be part of their life on this earth.

Remembering their love for us and what they taught us is their Legacy Of A Spirit.

                                                    REMEMBER THIS

Remember this when you feel the pain from a loss...

LISTEN.....
                  To a child's laughter
                  To a birds song
To the whisper of the wind

SEE...........
The sunrise for the first time
                 The colors of the rainbow
                 The loved ones around you

FEEL........
                The sunlight on your face
                The special closeness to everything
The special warmth on your lips

STOP!!!!!
                Close your eyes
                Tilt your head upward
                You've been kissed by God.

Remember at your lowest sorrow God is always there.

                                                                 A NEW SPIRIT

Here lies the shell of a spirit that is new to the world
When the body died the spirit was lifted into the presence of God
We are sadden to the fact that we won't see this spirit in this shell
Even as we lay to rest the shell, the spirit lives on
It has become part of this world that we experience everyday
The flowers smell a little more fruitful, the night stars a little brighter
A birds song becomes more soothing

The spirit is here with us always
Look at the children their smiles are brighter, their laughter more joyous
Yes we lost a dear friend, parent, or grandparent in body
We must now share their spirit with the world
That spirit makes this world a little brighter to live in
As we say goodbye to the body
Let's say hello to a New Spirit!

Why I Write

I write to please myself and God who has given me the gift of words. When I was younger I was called a dreamer by my parents and teachers. That is until I reached high school when my English teacher Mrs. White didn't see a dreamer but a writer. She took me under her wing so to speak and tried to tutor me on grammar and how to take my thoughts and put into words. After high school I started to write poetry, this became my main source of writing for a few years. I wrote mostly to help my friends with special occasions and to help others get through difficult times in their life. I started writing short stories when the muse hit me. When I write it seems to flow effortlessly like God giving me words to say.

I admire writers both past and present from Hemingway  Stephen King. I haven't had anything published yet but I haven't given up either. Currently I'm writing children's stories and spiritual stories. I started writing children's stories after my son came home from his first grade class and informing me then I had one week to write stories that featured everyone in his class. Because that day they were asked what their fathers did for a living and he said that I was the best writer he ever knew. After consulting teacher I began to write the stories, ever since then I've been hooked on writing children's stories, especially after seeing the children's eyes light up when they were part of the story.

I enjoy writing, writing everything from children's stories to spiritual stories. Simply put I write because  I love to write.
